Compagnie XY (FR): Il n’est pas encore minuit…

The 22 acrobats of Compagnie XY poke fun at gravity: they fly, flap and float. Bodies are catapulted from springboards to create a human tower, twirling through the air and crossing each other in their flight. One wild rhythmic image follows another: tumultuous tussle, a graceful hanging pose, a 1920s Lindy Hop. Through a continual physical engagement and a vividly-communicated energy, Compagnie XY explores the concepts of crowds and solitude, carrying and being carried, being together, and of flying and falling. The performance – taking place on January 6-7 – is English-friendly. More details

New Year’s Run

On January 8th, those who feel like they had one too many plates at holiday-season feasts can join a 4.5 km run for free at Népliget. The run goes through both concrete and unpaved roads, and at some point even wanders off these tracks to explore more exciting paths. The meeting point is at the car park found on the corner of Vajda Péter Street and Könyves Kálmán Boulevard, and participants are expected to arrive between 9:30am-9:45am. Dogs are warmly welcome, however, please make sure that they are used to bigger crowds. Considering there are no steps and slopes along the run, baby strollers designed for running can easily be used, so feel free to bring your baby, too. If you wish to participate, click on “going” at the Facebook event.
