May 25th is a day that’s important for many: it is Geek Pride Day, when geeks of the world unite (figuratively speaking) to celebrate all of the things that their rich subculture has to offer. From engaging in e-sports to obsessively playing pinball to flipping through comic books to gazing up at the night sky with stories of far-away galaxies echoing in mind, we collected a few ways to celebrate the multifaceted geek lifestyle in Budapest. Choose wisely, and most importantly, live long and prosper!

1/7

Board Game Café

An afternoon and/or evening spent at Board Game Café is time spent well, especially on such a fine occasion as Geek Pride Day. But be careful if you want to pack as many nerdy diversions as you can into this hallowed holiday, as choosing among the hundreds of games that they have can be a tough decision to make, and it’s easy to find yourself playing there with newfound friends until closing time.

2/7

BarCraft

For geeks who prefer playing on screens instead of boards (although this place also has a board-game selection), BarCraft is just the place to spend this joyful Wednesday evening for all sorts of e-sports, joining a throng of fellow geeks all wearing headphones with a regenerating potion in hand.

3/7

Budapest Pinball Museum

Some might say it’s an old-school activity, but popping by the Budapest Pinball Museum on Geek Pride Day sounds as cool as it gets – here a huge variety of retro and modern pinball games are available for visitors to play as much as they want for one entrance fee. Just make sure to clear your calendar, because if you enter, abandon all hope of leaving early.

4/7

Center of Scientific Wonders

The Center of Scientific Wonders (now available at two locations) is the place to pop by for some post-lunch science-based fun, especially on the day of everything geek. May the laws of physics become more comprehensible for you!

5/7

ComiX Coffee

When the energy bars run low, stopping by ComiX Coffee is a great idea on this festive day of geeks, as the tasty and foamy coffees of this place (not to mention the stacks of comic books they have) will get you ready for life’s next battle.

6/7

Planetarium

The mystery of space surrounds all of us, but we can’t reasonably advise you to visit the International Space Station on May 25th (or any other day, for that matter)... however, the Planetarium of Budapest sounds like a really good alternative. Gaze upon the night sky and remember: the truth is out there.
