Gateway to Space Budapest – International Space Exhibition

This phenomenal project recounts the history of NASA and international space travel, arriving all the way from Brussels to amaze the science buffs of Budapest. Encompassing the world’s largest “space collection”, Gateway to Space is on at the Millenáris exhibition complex between January 15th and March 15th. The mega-exhibition gives an insight into the history of mankind’s quest through space from the first steps skyward, through the eventful 20th century and the Moon landing, up to the present, taking visitors beyond the boundaries of our Solar System.

Head over to Budapest’s palatial Kunsthalle to see stunning rose windows painted with light, a magical photo album with hundreds of manually scanned portraits, comic book heroes in edgy installations, and dirty words molded from soap, all created by talented, fledging artists from all over the country. Shortcut presents works crafted by the autonomous art and applied art students attending the Visual Arts Department of Eszterházy Károly University, based in the eastern Hungarian town of Eger.

A Revolution In Art

Taking place at the prestigious venue of the Hungarian National Gallery, this event will be the first time Budapest gets to host a major collection of Russian avant-garde art from a single museum, namely the Ekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts. The 40 outstanding works exhibited – produced by such notable Russian artists as Kazimir Malevich, Wassily Kandinsky, Alexander Rodchenko, El Lissitzky, Natalia Goncharova, and Mikhail Larionov – have never been seen together before outside of Russia.

Picasso – Shape Transformations, 1895-1972

Organized by the Museum of Fine Arts and Musée National Picasso of Paris to honor the most influential artist of the 20th century, Picasso – Shape Transformations, 1895-1972 opens on April 21st at the Hungarian National Gallery. The 45 paintings, several drawings, and statues comprise a collection of about 100 works, selected from different periods of Picasso’s career to demonstrate the evolution of techniques and tools used to depict the human body.

Another exhibition of a similar caliber will take place from the end of June 2016, painting a complete picture of the life and work of revolutionary art genius Amedeo Modigliani. After being on display at the Museum of Modern Art in the northern French commune of Villeneuve-d'Ascq, the sculptures, paintings, and drawings of the Italian master will make their way to Budapest to represent his life’s work along two distinct themes.
