On Valentine’s Day, it feels especially good to step out of the everyday routine and focus on each other. Whether it’s a romantic dinner, an inspiring cultural programme or an exciting shared experience, Budapest is full of special places and events to make the occasion truly memorable.

We’ve rounded up hotels, restaurants and experiences where memorable moments, romance and quality are guaranteed - whether you’re heading out on a first date or looking for inspiration as a long-established couple.

Párisi Udvar Hotel Budapest

If this year you'd like to celebrate Valentine's Day not just for one evening but across an entire week, Párisi Udvar Hotel Budapest is a safe bet. Set in one of the city centre's most beautiful buildings, the hotel's Párisi Passage Restaurant has created a four-course bistro-style menu for the occasion: elegant yet refreshingly light. Built around seasonal ingredients, the dishes guide you gently through the evening: the menu opens with gravlax served with a fresh green apple salad, followed by heartier mains such as venison loin, rosé duck breast and arancini filled with Vászolyi cream cheese, before finishing on a high note with a white chocolate mousse. The experience is completed with a glass of prosecco and a fig and celeriac cream amuse-bouche. Available between 9 and 15 February, the Valentine's offers are about much more than gastronomy. At Párisi Udvar Hotel Budapest, the focus is firmly on slowing down and spending quality time together. After - or instead of - a romantic dinner, couples can unwind with wellness programmes, relaxing treatments or an elegant afternoon tea, all designed to help you escape the city's buzz. Whether you're after intimate moments for two or a pampering afternoon with friends, it's easy to find something that feels just right during Valentine's week.

We last visited the Karinthy Frigyes Road restaurant of Amore di Napoli in autumn, where it wasn’t just the wonderful Neapolitan pizzas that won us over, but also the southern Italian fish soup, the Italo Smash Burger and the pasta dishes. Spoon The Boat

There are places you simply never tire of - and Spoon The Boat is exactly that, especially when it comes to the most romantic evening of the year. To round things off, dessert is accompanied by a small take-home treat: a sweet selection of petit fours that makes the moment linger just a little longer.
