WHS are a visual theatre/contemporary circus group from Finland, founded by visual artist and magician Kalle Nio, juggler Ville Walo and designer Anne Jämsä. Being the pioneers of the genre, the troupe and their productions engendered a rapid rise in Finland’s new circus scene over the past decade. Their pieces are a modern, independent and constantly changing form of expression, complemented by various other art forms, especially videos. In their production Lähtö (‘Departure’), feelings and impressions aren’t conveyed through speech, but with movement and vivacious scenery. The story depicts a couple that has drifted apart from each other and is now floating amid dreamlike images and illusions.
