Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning autobiographical novel was made into to film in 1962 by writer Horton Foote and director Robert Mulligan. Set in a small Alabama town in the 30s, the story focuses on Atticus Finch (Oscar-winning Gregory Peck), an honest and highly respected lawyer, who puts his career on the line when he agrees to represent Tom Robinson (Brock Peters), a black man accused of rape. The film is screened at the Bem cinema on June 11th.
