A wealthy butcher is living his best life in post-World War I Hungary. One day his old business partner, a wanted one-eyed gendarme officer arrives to his village with a woman. The presence of the stranger piques the butcher’s interest, and he hires them both. When it turns out that the woman was a whore in Pest, the butcher tries to buy her love with money. The couple is up to the game and the dangerous bargaining begins: no one knows who will stab whom in the back when the reckoning comes.
