At István Sinkó's new exhibition, Phenomena, harmonious colours hide tensions in contrasts of abstraction versus figuration, classical painting versus applied genres. The starting point is always a personal photo of a figure, light or shadow phenomenon, that eventually becomes a painting on a printed canvas with pastel or spray paint. Different layers, form fragments and shadow images reveal a new setting or phenomenon, so a found photo becomes a still life, for example.
