The exhibition opened in
Klauzál Square
on the 70th anniversary of the Decree On the Establishment of the Budapest Ghetto was set up to commemorate the thousands banished to the
Budapest Ghetto
, the victims and those senselessly persecuted and deported in the last days of World War II. In the building established at the former site of the ghetto visitors can view until January 18, 2015 an exhibition featuring the related works of young contemporary artists and archive photographs depicting the tragedy.

The chief organizer of the exhibition is urban developer
Monika Jáki
. Art historian
Noémi Szabó
has also contributed to the exhibition. Creator:
Gábor Dombi
, curator:

, architect.
In the square behind tall, closed walls reminiscent of the ghetto, visitors will find a building housing the inspiring works of young artists, who express their personal connection to the venue and the tragic events. The exhibitors are members of the
third post-Holocaust generation
, using their own artistic tools, style and method to react to the tragic memories of the location. Participating contemporary artists: graphic artist
Gábor Koós
, fine artist
Éva Magyarósi
, artist
Zsuzsa Moizer
, sculptor
Judit Rabóczky
, photographer
Tamás Réthey-Prikkel
, painter
Krisztián Sándor
, graphic artist
András Solt
, and artist

.

On the outer walls of the building lesser known, poignant archive photos are displayed, showing the historical events related to the ghetto. The exhibition makes visitors confront the grimmest drama in the history of
Erzsébetváros
: the martyrdom of thousands and the horrors experienced by the almost 70,000 people forced to move into the area at the time of the Arrow Cross terror and the occupation of Budapest.

The aim of the District VII municipality organizing the Klauzál Square exhibition is to open a museum at
5 Csányi Street
, showcasing the several-hundred-year history, the everyday lives and culture of the Erzsébetváros local Jewish community. The items currently on display in Klauzál Square will also be added to the museum's collection. By creating the Klauzál Square exhibition, the municipality of Erzsébetváros wishes to express in a respectful way its dedication to the establishment of the historical collection and stress the importance of the exhibition in the life of the district.
