On 8 and 9 June, the Hungarian Open Air Museum in Szentendre hosts the Pentecost Heritage Festival for the 14th time. This year’s edition brings together representatives of Hungary’s intangible cultural heritage, local museum communities, and traditional folk groups. Across the two days, visitors can explore the country’s rich cultural traditions and meet the communities who continue to preserve them.

From tasting regional dishes to learning traditional crafts, enjoying folk music, admiring regional costumes, and even joining in the dancing, the event offers a full cultural immersion. Each day ends with a joyful all-dance, where every performer and heritage group comes together to dance the csárdás – a Hungarian tradition recognised on UNESCO’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
