Back to roots.
Budapest is full of back to back
electronic
music parties, major international stars pass each other the record player, cult status old foxes play their usual clubs week after weeks, while younger magicians search for trends and similarly young audiences. That’s how it should be. But sometimes it’s worth stopping for a minute, even just for a night, to see whether the fire’s still there, that community building attitude that changed the music world of ‘90s Hungary and gave birth to the party culture in which DJs, MCs, VJs and the audience have lived, created, danced and made music, or it has been turned into strictly business.
Ősparty
!
The success of the Roots party held last January has proved that such class reunion-like moments are needed where the nostalgia of thirty- and forty-year-olds can blend with the audience of today’s parties. Lots of people showed up to experience what that tribal-ritual-acidic Origin was like at parties in Frankhegy, Csillebérc, Törökbálint and Nagycirkusz, how Nagybudapest’s
acid
, which later turned into goatrance, was born.
Like last year, the two stages are once again thematic: on the Acid Stage successful producer
Titusz
, one half of the
X-Lab
parties will evoke a classic, more acidic, acid-house vibe,
Dork
(Dork & Kozma) will guarantee the Frankhegy feeling,
Zsiga Bernáthy
will of course have his electronic gadgets with him to sound them live, like he used to do with his dad,
Christian
will bring back the smell of vinyls from the I&I record store, and
1000arc
will represent today’s trends.
The performers of the Goatrance.hu Stage were mere primary school pupils back in the good old days, but their point of view about the electronic music subculture in 2015 is very similar to their forefathers: not only
Hruscsov, Showma, Lucky, Psymon
and
Snag
will revisit the old vibes, VJs
Trippy
and
Luxon Visual Art
will also create visuals in the spirit of the classic party scene.
