On 27 March, a cocktail sampling event is being held at Barside. One of the first ever mixes takes centre stage for the night: Old Fashioned. According to the original recipe, it’s made from bourbon whiskey, brown sugar and angostura bitters. The first written record of the drink is from 1881, from a gentlemen’s club in Louisville, Kentucky, the Pendennis.
