Eszter Bíró
began performing 20 years ago at the age of 16, when she started playing leading roles on stage, while her solo music career was launched in 2006 with the release of her first album, "Zenéim" 2000-2006. By the time "Eszter" and "Mikor lesz az már?" were released in 2007 and 2009 respectively, she had already developed her own special blend of pop, world music, jazz and folk. The book and CD
Állati Zenés ABC
, released in 2013, won the 'Children's Record of the Year' award in 2014 and also received the Fonogram Hungarian Music Award. Also a winner of the Gundel Art Prize and eMeRTon and Cosmopolitan awards, Eszter Bíró raised the roof in New York and Washington on tour with her band in the summer of 2013, with the Grammy Award-winning Frank London (Klezmatics) taking the stage as a special guest. In 2014, she appeared as Zorán's duet partner at the Budapest Arena, and she has also played at Centrál Theatre. For this
acoustic
concert, Bíró will sit down at the piano once more to bring to life a handful of songs from her previous albums, but the audience will also hear fresh compositions being performed for the first time here, as well as one old number reworked especially for this concert.
"Does the music get inside your head? It does, it does! - is what I sing these days, and I trust it will really get in there this evening too. There are a lot of things on my mind: as I go forward in time and in sound, I'm increasingly pushing my boundaries and my emotional scale, my concept of the world. Because perhaps it's worth being constantly in doubt, believing that things can be changed and new things created. It'll be good to think about new and older songs together with
Gyuri Ferenczi, Sanyi Födő, Mókus
and the string section, to sit down at the piano again, which is my musical creator; to play from my records so far, and to show other sides of things. I can hardly wait... and I'm waiting for you!" /Eszter Bíró/
