On 12 September, Heroes’ Square fills with music as Iván Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra take to the stage for a free open-air concert. This year’s programme is aimed especially at younger classical music fans, featuring Schubert’s Symphony No. 8, “Unfinished”, Arvo Pärt’s Summer Waltz and Prokofiev’s Cinderella Suite. Pärt’s piece will be performed in the original Estonian by the BFO’s newly formed children’s choir. The concert is free to attend, but it’s worth arriving early if you’d like a comfortable seat closer to the stage.
