The orchestra in residence at the Esterházy Palace, the Haydn Philharmonic were founded by Adam Fischer in 1987 from members of the Vienna Philharmonic and the Hungarian National Philharmonic. It was Fischer’s intention to bring together the best musicians from each side of the border to offer a unified approach when play the works of Joseph Haydn. On 4 March, as part of Müpa Budapest’s Early Music Festival, the international ensemble will perform works by Werner and Pleyel, as well as the titular Haydn’s.
