This year’s first guest of the fine-dining dinner series Globalist Kitchen is Anissa Helou. She cooks on 24 and 25 January at Bazaar Eclectica. Helou started out as an interior designer and art dealer. She then opened an antique shop in Paris, then moved to Kuwait, working there for 10 years as an expert in Islamic art. She was close with the Kuwaiti royal family, whose court employed a Lebanese, a Persian and an Indian cook, as well. Here she got familiar with gastronomy and instead of art, she started to pursue a career of cooking, using Near-Eastern ingredients and authentic recipes with a twist. By now, she is one of the most influential women in the Arabic word; she stars in many English and American cooking shows and in 2018 she published her new, ninth cooking book, entitled Feast. The book was listed among 2018’s best cookbooks by New Yorker Magazine.
