Ratha-yātrā, or the Festival of Chariots, is one of the oldest and grandest in India, attracting some 1.7 million people every year. The event has been held for more than 50 years in many western cities, too. Now, after a gap of two years, the celebration takes place once more at Vörösmarty tér and then moves to City Park. The main theme of this year's festival is peace, and there will also be concerts, performances, henna painting, children's events, philosophical discussions and an Indian flea market.
