Paying tribute to the renowned Hungarian pianist György Cziffra, the period between February 2021 and May 2022 has been declared the Cziffra Memorial Year, to be celebrated with around 100 performances and special events, involving world-famous artists. The series begins with the Cziffra Festival in February – the first events will be available online, but we can expect to enjoy performances in person later on, too.

The virtual opening will be held on 9 February, with a concert broadcast from the Franz Liszt Music Academy. Pianists Gergely Bogányi, Kálmán Dráfi and Károly Mocsári – all former Cziffra students – will perform, as well as János Balázs, the artistic director of the Cziffra Memorial Year.

The opening concert can be viewed free of charge on the Cziffra 100 website or on the YouTube Channel of the Liszt Academy.
