Launched in 2016, Kolorádó Festival may not have taken place within Budapest's city limits, but it nevertheless became an integral part of the capital's cultural life. Much of both the audience and the organising team came from Budapest, and in its early years the festival even carried the slogan “a Pest festival in the Buda Hills”. Over time, Kolorádó gradually moved away from this idea - and from categorisation in general. From 2026, the physical distance will also increase, although the festival is not moving too far away.
The new location will be Káloz in Fejér County, around 90 kilometres from Budapest. Here, the organisers can open an entirely new chapter, working on their own site, where Kolorádó is set to expand into a year-round project. In a recent post, they described their vision as follows:
We want to build an ecosystem where music, the arts and the environment are not an escape route, but instead create new patterns for everyday life. And it’s not only through our programmes that we aim to spark new ideas: the site in Káloz will be shaped in the spirit of regeneration. We will breathe life back into a dried-out lake system, create a permaculture model farm, and fill the old buildings on the site - including the central Zichy Castle - with a sense of magic.
What’s more, the dates for this year’s festival have also been confirmed:

The Facebook event is already live, while information about ticket sales will be shared first with newsletter subscribers. A short film about the future of Kolorádó Festival was also released a few weeks ago, which you can watch below.
