More than a restaurant
In 2023, the Fekete Holló tavern was taken over by the Zsidai Group, who chose to preserve both the cosy interior and the grandma-inspired dishes that define its charm. Their aim was to protect the spirit and heritage of the place – and from this same mindset came the idea to support the cultural life of the local community as well. Today, residents and people working in District I can also enjoy a 25% discount.
The Budavár Traditional programme series has found a home in Fekete Holló’s Small Hall. These intimate gatherings welcome locals, families and returning guests with craft workshops, folk-heritage events and community evenings held on pre-announced dates. It’s the blend of the venue, its atmosphere and the people who fill it that gives these occasions their very own, heartfelt character.
Where old stories come alive – the first Snotty Crow Reunion
Some of the most personal chapters of Fekete Holló’s story belong to the generations of students who once lived in the dormitory opposite. Year after year, Schönherz residents passed down their jokes, memories and legends about the place – stories that connect people who may never have met, yet share the same formative moments spent within these walls. The team is still collecting memories tied to Fekete Holló.
This spirit will be revived on 17 January 2026 with the first Taknyos Varjú Reunion. The aim is simple, yet deeply meaningful: to bring together former dorm residents, university students and long-time regulars who once considered Fekete Holló their “home in the Castle District”. The idea immediately sparked huge enthusiasm. Many will return after decades to sit at the very same tables where they survived exam periods, debated love stories, celebrated big nights or quietly escaped the world with nothing but a pint for company.
Today, Fekete Holló continues to represent that same sense of home, community and shared stories. It honours its past while adapting to the needs of the present – holding onto everything that makes it a true neighbourhood gem.
