Hungary celebrates another milestone in international film: 'Living Stones', directed by Jákob Ladányi Jancsó, has been selected for the competition programme of Berlinale Shorts – Berlin International Film Festival.

The Berlinale (Berlin International Film Festival), one of the world's largest public film festivals, returns from 13 to 23 February. Celebrating its 75th edition, the festival attracts big stars of international cinema while spotlighting emerging talents. Renowned as a hub for intercultural exchange, it also serves as a platform for critical cinematic exploration of pressing social issues.

And here's the big news: Berlinale Shorts 2025 will feature a Hungarian creation in its competition programme – Living Stones by director Jákob Ladányi Jancsó. With the film set to premiere at the festival, details are still under wraps, but we’re rooting for it.

The story follows the journey of a young woman and her therapist, set in a rehabilitation centre far from the city. Initially, the woman finds it difficult to open up, but the psychiatrist gradually earns her trust through horse therapy. As their sessions progress, their relationship begins to take an intimate turn.

One of the producers of Living Stones is Béla Tarr, renowned for directing the 1994 drama, Sátántangó (Satan's Tango). The main roles are played by Lilla Kizlinger, who previously won the Best Actress award at this very festival, and Árpád Schilling, an accomplished actor and theatre director. Congratulations to the creators – being part of the Berlinale competition is already a success.
