In just a few weeks, a magical light exhibition will land in Budapest's oldest botanical gardens. And we have a feeling you're familiar with its residents-to-be.
Last year, the Garden of Lights took our breath away with its enchanting Alice in Wonderland exhibition. With 500,000 energy-saving LED bulbs, over 20,000 metres of fairy lights, and 100 installations, it brilliantly evoked the surreal world of the Queen of Hearts and the Mad Hatter at the more than 250-year-old ELTE Botanical Gardens. And this year, a new exhibition is coming!
Starring another set of legendary characters, you'll encounter hefty, brainy, lazy, jokey little blue figures – the Smurfs! From October 18th, you can literally walk into Smurf Village, in a wintery setting, and the experience promises to dazzle your senses. The Smurfs will be around until March 2nd, 2025, and they won't be so tiny this time. And surely enough, the experience wouldn't be complete without their longtime nemesis, Gargamel, and his loyal cat, Azrael, who'll be lurking around, too.
So mark your calendar: the exhibition, featuring impressive multimedia displays and sound effects, is a super fun option for a family day out. But trust us, it will brighten any gloomy day as an adult, too! So get ready to grab a glass of mulled wine, set off on a wander, and soak in that childhood nostalgia.
