From May 20th to 26th, immerse yourself in the world of craft beer at Budapest Beer Week. The festival brings together beer enthusiasts and brewers for the fifth time, featuring tap takeovers, beer tastings, concerts, and even a conference. Here’s why you shouldn’t miss it.

The phrase 'it's more than a festival' gets thrown around a lot, but in the case of Budapest Beer Week, it couldn't be more fitting. Despite being a fairly young event – celebrating its 5th anniversary this year –, it has quickly become a meeting point for European craft beer enthusiasts. And it's no surprise it has been ranked the 3rd best craft beer festival in Europe

While the spotlight is on local and international breweries and their creations, let's also appreciate the lineup of performers. In addition to local artists, international bands like Living Häus, Wayfinder, and Whiplash Beer will be taking the stage.

But back to the brewers! The festival not only offers a taste of super special brews but gives you the perfect chance to meet the people behind the brands and become part of a cool community. In the spirit of togetherness, they've even launched an official festival beer: New Adjunct IPA. Starting May 15th, you can find this New England IPA, a collaboration of 14 Hungarian breweries, in several locations – check out the details here. Also, be sure to visit their taps during the festival: Balkezes, B*BOP Fermentory, Dealbreaker, Fehér Nyúl, First, InVitro, Hoptop, Horizont, Mad Scientist, MONYO, Reketye, Sima, Ugar, and Uradalmi represent the local craft beer scene.

Budapest Beer Week's events, such as tap takeovers and 'meet the brewer' sessions, start on May 20th, hosted by the hottest tap rooms in town. But if you are looking to dedicate a whole day to clinking glasses and tasting brews – and why wouldn't you – May 24th and 25th are the dates to aim for. But here's some additional good news: this year, a bonus day has been added to the calendar. On May 26th, you can visit the event free of charge. Festival vibes will be at their highest on these last three days, with open-air concerts at Dürer Kert featuring New Fossils, QuixoticTündérvese, Dungaree, and Kinetic Erotic.
