Urban Erotica Exhibition

Delve into the world of Hungarian painter, Gergely Gyuricza, as he unveils his latest project centred around passion and erotic relationships (read more about the artist in our previous article). Focusing on the intimate psychological space shared between two individuals, Gyuricza's exhibition, 'Urban Erotica' is a must-see from Valentine's Day until March 2nd at the Klauzál6 Projekt Gallery. Gallery hours: Mon-Fri 4 pm - 7 pm.

End-of-carnival parties

If you thought carnival season was over, well, several party spots will challenge you on that. There are still some farsang-themed events popping up in town this weekend: if you are after a concert-filled celebration, try this tribute party at Dürer Kert. If you are equally into heavy metal, post-hardcore, rock, and pop-rock, don't miss A38's Hybrid Night.

 Light Art Museum

If you are up for a romantic evening, but dinner doesn't sound like your ideal date plan, head to Budapest's Light Art Museum. Here, you can celebrate love in a whole new way: wandering among light installations. At the Superluminal exhibition, you can see works of 40 Hungarian and foreign artists, understanding the nature of light from supernovas to black holes, parallel universes and the northern light.

Anti-Valentine's Day Hip Hop Party

And if you are up for a night that has nothing to do with love and romance, hop into an anti-Valentine's Day party at Hoff House. They are undusting the best hip hop discs and throwing a massive mingling, come solo or in a couple.

Ready to embark on a treasure hunt? Art centre Nyolcésfél (located in the 8th district) is hosting a huge garage sale on Sunday, where you can explore vintage furniture, antiques, homeware with folk motifs, and unique ceramics. Just climb up to the 7th floor, and let the fun begin!

Celebrating Snowdrops

Snowdrop season has officially started at the Alcsút Arboretum reserve, a gorgeous botanical garden outside Budapest. If you like nature and blooming flowers, this is the place to be in the upcoming weeks as the garden has a unique flower field showcasing seven species of snowdrops and 24 types of these pretty white flowers. The blossoming will last for four to five weeks depending on the weather.

Piggy Feast at the Fény utca Market

If you are a meat lover, don't miss the Fény utca Market on February 18th. You can immerse yourself in the fresh and authentic products of a pig slaughter feast. Various baked sausages will be in abundance, alongside baked blood (a local speciality) served with fresh bread and pickles. For an added touch of authenticity, you are invited for a round of pálinka (the iconic Hungarian shot), too. You can not only nibble on the delicious treats but help make them: try your hands at filling the sausages while sipping on mulled wine.
