In a further sign that international travel is getting back to normal, Air Canada is reintroducing its direct service between Budapest and Toronto in May. The national carrier will be flying between Hungary’s capital and Canada’s largest city three times a week until October.
The first direct flights to Budapest were started up by low-cost Air Canada Rouge in 2016.
Now, with travel restrictions gradually being relaxed worldwide, parent company Air Canada is overseeing this long-haul service. Each wide-bodied Boeing 787 Dreamliner will offer 298 seats in three classes. The flight time to Toronto will be nine hours 25 minutes, to Budapest, eight hours 25 minutes.
The Toronto route also offers excellent connections to a wide range of cities in the Americas, giving travellers from Budapest an attractive choice of onward destinations.
Budapest Airport welcomes back long-haul
Balázs Bogáts, head of airline development for Budapest Airport, says, “We are very proud that Air Canada is returning to Budapest Airport’s portfolio with this much loved destination, missed by many. We have worked tirelessly with the airline and the Hungarian Tourism Agency to make the relaunch a reality and to bring long-haul flights back to the airport”.
