Revered actress Mari Törőcsik honoured with renaming of Buda park

Residents of the south Buda district of Újbuda have voted to rename a popular local park after actress Mari Törőcsik, who died in 2021. The area around Feneketlen Lake won the poll for which three other open spaces were on the ballot sheet.

Cannes winner Mari Törőcsik, who appeared in more than 170 films from 1956 to 2020 including all-time classics Édes Anna and Körhinta, is being honoured by the people of Újbuda.


After her death at the age of 85, a poll was conducted to find the most suitable open space to take her name. More than half voted for the park surrounding Feneketlen Lake, popular with couples, families and older residents.
