Respected European zoo analyst Anthony Sheridan has just produced his regular rankings and placed Budapest 15th of the 126 he assessed. Criteria include biodiversity, research, conservation and the overall visitor experience.
Published since 2011, Sheridan’s list is created by a UK retiree who visits Europe’s many zoos on a regular basis to give annual ratings based on a complex scoring system.
According to the latest, Budapest lies in 15th place, behind Berlin, Copenhagen and regular winners Vienna. The zoo by City Park can look back on many recent successes, with a baby zebra, elephant and giant anteater all born here in captivity.
