Дeva, aka Takina Dorina, has just become the second Hungarian to win a Music Moves Europe Award, given to the best emerging artists. The 21-year-old singer accepted her prize at the Eurosonic Festival in Groningen, Holland. The five winners were selected by an expert jury including Gemma Bradley of BBC Radio 1 and last year’s winner, alyona alyona.

Backed by the EU, Music Moves Europe aims to showcase emerging European artists and support them in launching and developing their international careers. Previous winners include Adele, Dua Lipa and Mumford & Sons.

As well as the award and a cash prize, the artist receives professional support.

Dorina Takács broke into the Hungarian music scene in 2021 with a special sound that combines modern electronic music and folk. After a number of singles, her debut album, Csillag, has just been released and is being launched with a live show at Trafó on Saturday, 29 January. Here’s the video for the lead single, Fa lenni.
