The visual presentations for the winning tender to redevelop Városmajor park in Buda have just been published. The joint design by OpenSpace and the Deichler Jakab Studio features a lake and themed green areas for sport, dogs and sunbathing. All should transform the city’s first public park in the not too distant future.
Among the many features integral to the new plans
for Városmajor park, fringed by the Heart of Jesus Church, a lake will be
installed where the open-air concert stage now stands. Negotiations are ongoing
as to the relocation of the performance space. Slated to be the size of Feneketlen Lake elsewhere in Buda, this water feature surrounded by a path will
centrepiece a large, wooded clearing and include a sunbathing area, and public benches
and tables.
The greenery of Városmajor will be increased by
more than one and a half hectares, with new trees, shrubs and plants planted. The
park will be completely car-free. Themed sections will be developed for all
ages, with communal sports courts and a running track.
Toilets, changing rooms,
drinking fountains and good-quality public furniture all feature. Last but not
least, a dog park will also be set up, with separate sections for smaller and
larger pets.
