Hungarian-American set decorator Zsuzsanna Sipos has just won an Oscar for her work on the film Dune, which took the award for Best Production Design. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the Sci-Fi epic mainly filmed in Budapest picked up six Oscars altogether, include for Visual Effects and Cinematography.

A tearful Zsuzsanna Sipos gratefully accepted her Oscar at last night’s ceremony in Hollywood, thanking her team who helped create the sets and props for the Sci-Fi epic Dune. Both Sipos and Canadian production designer Patrice Vermette were presented with awards – a repeat of their success at the recent BAFTAs in London.

Mainly filmed at the Origo Studios in Budapest in 2019, Dune stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson and Josh Brolin. A sequel has been slated for 2023, filming also to take place in Budapest later this year.
