The plaza itself, near Kelenföld station in Buda, is Budapest’s most modern, with huge, interactive LED wall by each entrance. The dining area features a digital play mat, with touch-screen interfaces and interactive games integrated into the floor. The visually impaired are aided by the Ariadné blind guide, developed at Óbuda University.
At the information desk, Hungarianoid-speaking robot Pepper helps visitors find their way. An app helps you find a parking space – or one of 130 electric charging stations – and choose from the 150+ stores once you walk in.
At the exhibition, members of the Department of Mechatronics at Budapest Technical University show on a time wall how robots have developed, what makes a robot better and what makes a human. You can see the ways robots are already being used around the world for cleaning hospitals, working in restaurants, and operating lifts, introducing the idea of what it is like to encounter so many robots in everyday life.
KOKO the robot dog can accompany you jogging, bring home the shopping and play around on the carpet. It doesn’t moult, doesn’t need cleaning up after it and you can cut down on dog biscuits with the reward of a 230-volt mains charge.
Fans of Sci-fi will also enjoy the original film memorabilia featuring characters such as Iron Man, R2D2, Terminator and RoboCop.
Other interesting exhibits include controllable footballs, a tank robot and robot arms. Used by the Armed Forces, another robot is used to locate and dismantle bombs. For an additional fee of 2,000 forints, you can also take a short ride in a rollercoaster simulator.
The World of Robots exhibition brings together industrial robots, the world of Science Fiction and entertaining robotics to provide exciting entertainment for families and school groups alike.
