The transformation of the Danube embankment continues with the news of the upcoming renovation of the southern section extending from Liberty Bridge on the Pest side. The plan is to make Salkaházi Sára rakpart and Közraktár utca pedestrian- and cycle-friendly, linked to the revamping of the nearby transport hub of Boráros tér.

A section of Danube embankment more than a kilometre long is due for relandscaping, with wider implications for Boráros tér, terminus of the HÉV train down to Csepel island.

As well as making the parallel thoroughfares of Salkaházi Sára rakpart and Közraktár utca pedestrian- and cycle-friendly, the proposed embankment will continue to the northern tip of Csepel island, creating a long, continuous promenade.

The plan also outlines the need to reconfigure and expand the cycle path running alongside Bálna Budapest, the large glass building reclining between Liberty Bridge and Petőfi Bridge.
