Budapest City Council will soon decide on the introduction of time-based tickets for urban transport, with two new varieties proposed, to operate in tandem with others currently available. These will be valid for 30 and 90 minutes, respectively, allowing for transfers in between.

Currently on Budapest transport, those not holding a pass must stamp a ticket for each leg of their journey, even if it’s only for a couple of stops. To eliminate this situation, the City Council is meeting to work out the best way to implement time-based tickets, which may be introduced as early as this spring.

This should ease the dilemma of those who hesitate over buying a pass as they won’t benefit enough from transport services during that time.
