According to a recent government announcement, current Immunity Certificates will be converted into Vaccination Certificates from 15 February. These will be issued to those who have had their third vaccination or their second within the last six months. This will mean that Immunity Certificates held by those whose second injection was more than six months ago will no longer be valid. As current restrictions are quite lenient, Immunity Certificates are not required to enter restaurants, hotels or events attracting fewer than 500 people.

Current Hungarian Immunity Certificates (Védettségi Igazolvány) are being superseded by Vaccination Certificates (Oltási igazolvány) from 15 February.

All those who have a received a third vaccination or whose second dates back to within the last six months will be issued with the new documentation. Those who haven’t will be carrying an invalid pass as of 15 February.

The same applies to those who received their Immunity Certificate after recovering from Covid. From 15 February onwards, vaccinations will be the only accepted criteria for people to hold a valid certificate.

In further measures, the quarantine period for adults who test positive will now be seven days, or five if a subsequent test proves negative.

More details are expected soon, along with information about the availability and administering of fourth vaccinations
