Back in the 1800s, renowned architect and engineer Ferenc Reitter had the idea to construct a Danube canal cutting through Pest. High costs stymied the project and it was decided that the Nagykörút should instead deviate slightly from its intended route. Yesterday saw the return of Reitter’s notion as torrential rain flooded Pest’s main tram-lined artery. Our ace photographer, Sándor Csudai, captured the stormy scenes along the boulevard.
