A remarkable nature trail is being developed at Normafa, the popular excursion destination in the Buda hills. Starting at the former Hotel Sport, the course will run through the tree canopies, providing wonderful views of the surroundings and the nearby birdlife.

Following an agreement between relevant bodies, NGOs and the design team of Hello Wood, a nature trail is being created high up in the foliage of Normafa.

Home to oak, linden and beech trees centuries old, this this popular Buda getaway is currently undergoing a serious makeover, with re-landscaping, a new playground and a revamped ski house.

Accommodating 150 people at any one time, this latest initiative is planned to start in the secluded area of the former Sport Hotel, then emerge amid the treetops, providing stunning views of Budapest.

The focus will be to promote nature conservation education. Visitors, most notably school groups, will be able to get up close to nature. Guided tours will involve the use of specially designed birdwatching booths. Prices will be kept reasonable, particularly during the week.

Also on-site will be a meadow suitable for picnics, sports and games, plus a green rest zone, a café and toilets. Construction is expected to begin soon, and be completed by summer 2022.
