Acclaimed urban muralists Színes Város have just unveiled another work, a collaboration with the hosszúlépés. járunk? team who organise niche walking tours of the city. The new gallery depicts key figures from the 1956 Uprising, life-like portraits which brighten the long wall around a former military academy in the leafy residential Buda district of Pasarét.

Heroes of Hungary’s 1956 Uprising against the Soviet regime – political leader Imre Nagy, revolutionary fighter János (‘Szabó bácsi’) Szabó, press officer Géza Losonczy, among others – have been honoured with a mural at a disused military base in Pasarét, a pretty quarter of Buda.

You’ll find the work at what is now a riding school on Hidász utca, near the Virág árok stop on bus route 5.

With the collaboration of urban muralists Színes Város and tour organisers hosszúlépés. járunk? now in place, similar works celebrating Hungarian personalities are now in the pipeline, including popular figures of Hungarian animation.
