One of Budapest’s busiest transport hubs, Széll Kálmán tér, is a constant blur of trams, buses and cars. Now a new walkway makes life easier for pedestrians, who no longer have to negotiate the traffic but cross over with ease into the square from the landmark Postapalota building.

In the works for several years, the walkway linking one corner of Széll Kálmán tér to the square itself, with its metro station in the middle and terminus of the 4/6 tram on the other side, has just been unveiled.

Meanwhile the Postapalota, the century-old, castle-like landmark dominating the southern edge of the square, will soon be transformed into the Museum of Finance and Banking History, an interactive visitor centre.
