The Danubius Hotels Budapest group is bidding farewell to its showcase property, the iconic Gellért on the Buda riverfront, with a grand finale of tours, light shows and iconic dishes. The lights will be then be turned off on 1 December, and a full renovation will initiate a new era for this century-old landmark.

The Hotel Gellért was designed by Ármin Hegedűs, Artúr Sebestyén and Izidor Sterk in the Art Nouveau style so popular in the early 1900s. Its construction delayed by World War I, it wasn’t unveiled until September 1918.

Danubius Hotels will relinquish control of the Gellért on 1 December. Until then, guided tours, iconic dishes and light projections are planned for the length of November. See all details here.
