The goal of the local Everyone Adopt a Puppy Foundation MFÖEK is to get as many orphaned animals to loving, responsible owners as possible. Initially, the organisation was mainly concerned with rescuing dogs, but year after year, more and more little purring creatures are finding their way to there. A lovely little family of kittens has just popped up, all seeking a new home.

The team’s cat-specialist volunteer, Noémi Roszkopf, began working with the Sánta Dog Animal Welfare Foundation last winter, when they were looking for helpers at their 30-year-old cats’ home. Some of the kittens were suffering from feline leukemia and feline AIDS.

About 40 were added through the year, some of whom perished due to their previous adverse surroundings, while others survived, further enriching the colony. Any additional reproduction is eliminated by the foundation using the TNR programme.

TNR, Trap-Neuter-Return, has been shown to be the most humane and effective method of curbing the reproduction of stray cats. Cats are collected with a trap, neutered, removed of parasites and returned to the area where they were captured after recovery, and cared for in the future.

Neutered stray cats have the tips of their ears cut, an international indication that they have been neutered, so it is not possible for any animal to be trapped twice.

In addition to background support provided by the Sánta Dog team, then MFÖEK, Noémi started her own personal TNR programme. Thanks to MFÖEK, cared-for kittens can be placed in temporary accommodation and then be found by a caring owner. Noémi was recently approached by someone who had found a mother cat and her four little kittens in a cardboard box.

The three grey tabby and one darker kitten are completely healthy. Mum Silver is very good-natured, happy around humans, friendly to everyone and gets along well with dogs, other kittens and children. At five weeks old, her little ones run after people, purring in their lap. The use of a litter tray and a scratching tree has long been mastered.

The little sweethearts can be separated from Silver in three weeks, but the foundation is already looking for responsible owners who would be happy to take care of one of the kittens or the mother.

If that’s you, write an introductory message on the MFÖEK Facebook page. An important principle of the organisation is that the kittens are placed in the most ideal home for them, and the owners also choose the right partner for their experience and lifestyle, whom they can take care of in the long run.

You should say where and with whom the kitten would live, how much time you would have to look after them every day, abd how much time you are usually away from your home. If you seem suitable, a matching process will begin so you can get to know your chosen pet in person.
