For three days this weekend, 4-6 June, abandoned shop windows and façades of cafés and theatres will be filled with inventive colour when 40 creative groups display their works at 30 locations – all part of the kirakART festival.

Similar to last November’s successful FLASH SHOW, an independent contemporary art fair, kirakART aims to promote culture around Budapest when so many creatives have suffered a loss of outlets and income during lockdown.

For three days this weekend, 4-6 June, original works will be displayed across town, particularly at institutions for performing arts whose doors have been closed for well over a year.

Five independent venues are also involved in the project, most notably the Trafó House of Contemporary Arts, one of its main drivers. Not only will art be on display, but mini-concerts, installations, costume sets, puppet shows, short plays, readings, contemporary dance, storytelling, photo and poster exhibitions, as well as DJ and VJ sets, will all be staged.
