In a surprise move, the Hungarian government has just announced the lifting of restrictions on shopping hours to allow stores to serve customers of all ages. Re-introduced from the spring shutdown, times when only seniors could shop, were set at 9am-11am weekdays and 8am-10am weekends.
The decision, published on the Kormányzati Tájékoztatási Központ (Government Information Centre), is intended to alleviate the Christmas rush. The communication also drew attention to the fact that mask-wearing remains in place. The government is asking seniors to have relatives shop for them if possible.
