The government has just announced that the traditional firework celebrations of 20 August will not take place this year, and the fate of other remaining festivals is also uncertain.
The colourful events that normally bring the country together on Hungary’s national day, 20 August, are currently not safe to hold due to the pandemic.
As for the future, the current restrictions on gatherings larger than 500 visitors remain in force until 15 August, but the fate of subsequent events will be decided on 29 July. This will affect festivals that have been postponed to the end of the summer, such as Strand, Fishing on Orfű, EFOTT and Kolorádó.
