Beginning next Wednesday, 3 June, with a showing of The Big Lebowski, the Budapest Rooftop Cinema is collaborating with MOL Limo and the Westend mall behind Nyugati station to launch a social distance-friendly drive-in cinema.

Restrictions are lifting across the city, and the Budapest Rooftop Cinema is eager to get back to screening films again. The new Westend Drive-In Cinema will feature classic films such as The Big Lebowski, American Beauty, Grease, Back to the Future and more. The full programme is available on the group’s Facebook page.

Health workers, police officers, ambulance drivers and firefighters are being given free spots for each showing, as a thank you for the diligent work they’ve been doing during the pandemic. These can be applied for by emailing info@budapestrooftopcinema.hu by 6pm on the day before the screening.

Doors open at 7.30pm, and screening will start at 9pm each night. Tickets must be purchased online in advance, at a uniform price of 3,700 forints per car, regardless of how many people are inside. Those without a car can still attend – MOL Limos will be parked on site, which can be occupied for the same price for two people. Snacks and soft drinks can be ordered online through the cooltix.hu system, also bought ahead of time.
