In an initiative known as 'Félig tele' ('Half Full'), Budapest brewery FIRST Craft Beer is coordinating with 30 participating venues to hand out 10,000 mugs of free beer as soon as the city reopens from its current quarantine lockdown.

This optimistic campaign slogan was chosen to highlight the perseverance of quarantine-weary residents who managed to remain upbeat in trying times.

The owner of FIRST, Dániel Kurucz, explains:

"As soon as Budapest restarts, with the easing of quarantine restrictions, FIRST intends to give out 10,000 free mugs of beer to the people of Budapest, at about 30 partner restaurants. We would really like to thank the capital for its perseverance and discipline during this epidemic, and to the people for supporting local restaurants, producers and breweries along the way. This way, we can also show our appreciation and support to the restaurants when they reopen, as well!"

So far, the initiative has been joined by venues such as Szimpla Kert, Élesztőház and Beer Brothers. In return for the free beer, FIRST only asks consumers to post a picture or video of their beer with the hashtag #feligtele ('Half Full') to their social media accounts.

No exact date has been set yet for the promotion, but talk has begun of easing restrictions in Budapest, so it’s worth it to keep an eye on the official Facebook event for up-to-date information.
