With cyclists on the increase and car traffic down, the Budapest Transport Company (BKK) is creating more temporary bicycle lanes – the latest along the Grand Boulevard, the Nagykörút that links the key districts of downtown Pest.

Starting today, Monday 27 April, a 3km temporary cycle lane will be created installed along the Grand Boulevard, the vital ring road that runs through the main areas of Pest. This new feature will then be added to the map (see above) issued in recent weeks by the Budapest Transport Company (BKK) .

Between Nyugati station and Corvin-negyed, at the junctions of Váci út and Üllői út, cyclists will be able to turn safely in both directions, and this busiest part of the boulevard will narrow to a single lane for cars. These temporary measures are expected to remain in place until September.
