Budapest’s Déli railway crossing alongside Rákóczi Bridge is to be expanded, increasing the current two lines to three. The Déli (‘South’) structure runs between the Müpa cultural centre and Kopászi-gát in south Pest/Buda.

After being unveiled in 1877, the railway bridge has undergone numerous rebuilds and renovations. Plans now aim to extend its capacity and replace the old parts of the bridge, completing it with one more line.

The Buda side will gain a new bridgehead, while the whole bridge will be sealed off with noise absorbent barriers. Rail traffic will continue to run without interruption during the renovation.
