After Milan, Tokyo, London, Moscow and other major cities, adidas has just opened a RUNBASE in Budapest. At this brand-new sports and running centre, you can exercise for free using cutting-edge equipment and the help of professional trainers – and you don’t even have to be an adidas Runners member. The only criteria is that you need to register on the Runtastic app, where you can see the available classes and sign up for them.

Adidas Runners is a community anyone over 18 can join to improve their running style with the help of professionals. Knowing the right technique, following a routine and improving other muscles in your body to avoid injury are always important. This is something that RUNBASE trainers can help you with.

Altogether ten trainers work at RUNBASE, holding about 20 classes a week including cross training, functional training, core, HIIT, yoga and body shaping. Running sessions are also held outside the sport centre, sometimes on Saturdays.

The design is pretty much uniform from New York to Berlin: recycled materials, rugs, iron doors. The whole place is one big space, and the changing rooms, lockers and showers can also be used by those only here for a running session or who would like to go jogging on their own on Margaret Island. You do have to be a member, though, which means taking part in at least five running sessions.

RUNBASE is currently open between 7am and 9am, and between 4pm and 8pm when group classes take place, but more regular opening hours are planned. There are no drinks and snacks available, but you can fill up your bottle with filtered water.

The only drawback is that a maximum of 25 people can participate in any group class, and as RUNBASE is super popular, places fill up quickly on the app. But if you check back before the class starts you might get lucky as some cancel at the last minute. So download the app, and get moving!
