Running between Budapest Airport and the city’s main transport hub of Deák tér, the 100E bus is a godsend for thousands of travellers. Also calling at central Kálvin tér, this popular service now leaves at 3.40am from town and the last bus sets off from the airport at 1.20am.
In between, on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays, between 8/9am and 7pm, the 100E now runs every ten minutes. At other times, and on other days, it’s every 15-20 minutes.
A single ticket costs 900 forints/€2.75. From the machine by the bus stop – either to the left past the taxi kiosk as you exit the airport terminal, or alongside the cobbled square of Városháza Park at Deák tér – look for the plane icon to choose your ticket. Instructions are also given in English and you can pay by credit card or cash (Hungarian forints only). Enter the bus by the front door – usually there’s an inspector waiting to validate your ticket before you board.
Journey time between airport and town is around 45 minutes depending on traffic.
