Whether you're lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual, queer, questioning, intersex, trans, genderqueer, gender variant or non-binary as well as straight, cis allies or otherwise, you are welcome to join the parade. For decades now, Pride has been the annual celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, raising awareness of the issues they face and campaigning for equality. On Saturday July 6, Budapest marches for Pride, so just follow the crowd. No hate, only love!

On Saturday, Budapest's streets will be loud with liberating music as a colourful crowd marches through the city centre. This parade is free to join for anyone who supports its ideals and vision. The crowd meets at Kossuth tér outside Parliament at 3pm where, to mark International Kissing Day, a huge flashmob of people snogging will get the party started. The procession then sets off at 4pm, twisting around downtown streets all the way to Március 15 tér for a communal picnic.

Based on consultations with the police, the Pride March will be semi-open, meaning you can join and leave via checkpoints at many crossroads, which should result in the freest march in recent years. The parade ends with an official after party, the Rainbow Party, at the city's mini-festival concert venue, Budapest Park. Here are a few photos from previous years to get you in the mood.
